Progress Continues

We had a great meeting with the Parks and Recreation department of Salem on March 20th. Dave Smith and Jeff Earl presented our vision and goals for a community boating center on Winter Island. The members of the Parks and Recreation community were very excited about the idea. We will be presenting again at the April meeting. At this meeting we hope to determine where would be the best location for a community sailing program in 2008.

Meanwhile, lot’s of people have been asking us about Sail Salem. It has been great to talk to everyone. There is a real buzz around Salem and the surrounding communities. We all hope to spend time this summer talking to as many people as possible about Sail Salem. If you want to know how you can help, reach out to any of us.

Great Support Tuesday Night

Thank you everyone who showed up Tuesday night for the City’s public hearing on the barracks. It was great venue to share our ideas about the Community Boating in Salem. The City got a great chance to see how much support there was for a Community Boating Center on Winter Island.

The Salem News ran a great article on page two today as a result of the great turnout. You can read the article here if you did not get a chance to get a paper.

Groups Hope Building with Rich Past has Bright Future

We really appreciate everyone coming out to show their support. We are off to a great start. There is a lot of work ahead, and many more meetings.

Please keep your eyes on this website, and please email any of us if you would like to discuss Sail Salem further.
